Project Description
Develop short "PR" video of our Graduate Programs in School Counseling and in Community Mental Health Counseling. Intended audiences for our video include prospective students, visiting accreditation teams, prospective new faculty hires, etc. Finished products should include video tape, DVD, and potentially a shorter version to be placed on Department's web pages. Although I put a 2009 Spring date on the project, it would certainly be ok for the project to extend into the Fall of 2009 as well. Thanks, Dave Farrugia

Project Description
I would like to see a presentation that would highlight the real toll that abandoned housing inflicts on selected neighborhoods on Buffalo's East Side. I am on the board of the Jeremiah Partnership, a collaboration of 8 significant East Side churches that are trying to do broad based community development projects to improve the quality of life. I could supply the students with starting points for their research, people to speak with, neighborhoods to look at, etc. I want something that tells with pictures and video clips the horror of abandoned neighborhoods in Buffalo.

Thee Real Energy Behind Canisius College
Contact person
Fr Tom Colgan
Phone: 716 888 2488
Email: colgant@canisius.edu
Project Description
This project would describe the hidden process that is renewing many Canisius faculty staff and students, quietly and not in the public eye. It involves a group of Jesuits and lay men and women who are sharing the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius, done in secret on a daily basis, and directed by those trained in doing this. This would entail meeting with both directors of those taking these Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life (SEEL) and those taking this retreat now, or those who have completed it last year, like Vice President Dr Scott Chadwick, or Dean Paula Mc Nutt, or the current director of the Counseling Center. There are also Students taking this retreat right now. This presentation would invite whoever does it into a deeper understanding of how Jesuits do this and how non-Jesuits do this today. This retreat is what created the Society of Jesus today, the group who own and lead this College. There is a history of this process of a few hundred years, and the process has been updated for today. The maker of this project could be very free in how this is to be done. I am an artist and I like creativity and doing things from one's deapths. Partipating in this retreat and making a digital project of this procecss should lead those taking it to commit themselves to making this planet a better placae, more peaceful greener and safer place. Peace, Fr Tom Colgan. I am open to many different skills in this process.

Pamela Zablonski

Project Description
The Canisius College Center for Professional Development (CPD) offers personalized, professional training and consulting programs. These programs, including leadership and management development programs, technical courses such as lean/six sigma, and computer and soft skill training, provide participants with the critical skills necessary to effectively lead their organizations. We are seeking assistance in developing a video piece showcasing the various types of services we provide and real life examples of training and consulting engagements featured in the video. This opportunity would expose students to the not-for-profit and for profit community and allow them to meet various business leaders in our community. For example, on September 29th, we will be conducting a board governance meeting with Robby Tackac of the Goo Goo Dolls. We will be meeting with Robby and his key board members to work on this issue. The student would have the opportunity to tape a small portion of the meeting that could then be included in the video clip. In addition, we have upcoming programs in human resources and various lean/six sigma classes where any number of folks from the local business community will be participating. The end result of the video will be snippets of the types of services we offer that we would then be able to highlight on our website to entice further engagement with the community.

Project Description
Buffalo Religious Arts Center is a newly formed not-for-profit agency dedicated to saving, preserving, and displaying the religious art of the Buffalo area. They currently own St Francis Xavier Church on the west side and they will soon purchase St. Ann's Church on the east side. Their collection currently contains Catholic, Christian, and Jewish art. My son, Brian Castner, is the executive director of BRAC. They would love to have a promotional video that would tell their story, who they are and what they do. They would use it both to let people in Erie Co. know what they do and to help with fund raising. If this project does not fit the capstone course, perhaps it would be a suitable project for the Canisius College Video Institute.

Tapestry Charter School: Documentation of a grade 5/6 team building expedition

Email: Hannah@tapestryschool.org
Project Description
On Wednesday, September 24th, the 5th &6th grade students at Tapestry Charter School will be going to Heartwood Wilderness Skills School in East Aurora. Students will be participating in team building activities and learn how to build a shelter as part of our Expeditionary Learning fall expedition "How to Survive Middle School". This will be part of the "Go Team" investigation. Students will be in a beautiful outdoor setting and will have an opportunity to work with a highly experienced instructor. This will be a full day excursion. All participating need to bring a complete change of clothes, a bag lunch, snack, two water bottles and they must wear shoes that can get wet! It would be very beneficial to the school to have this work documented. We could use it to share with upcoming students, interested prospective parents/families, other EL schools at national conferences, and website exposure. We do not have the resources to do this in house and are very excited about the prospect of having the opportunity to have a Canisius student work with us on such a project.
